System Control Unit

SCU

The System Control Unit, SCU, is an optional component for
the installation on board the gimbal carrier. The SCU provides
a fully digital Ethernet based interface to the gimbal unit
including a H.264 or H.265 video stream. The SCU also provides
advanced video tracking, target detection, image enhancement
and features like picture-in-picture and sensor fusion. It also
includes a video recorder and a capability to add KLV metadata
to the video stream for easy integration of third-party mapping
software.
The SCU comes in three different models and sizes depending
on the needs and requirements of the application and the carrier.

• Compatible with all OTUS-U gimbals
• Compatible with the new digital HCU
• Video streaming over Ethernet (H.264)
• Gimbal communication via Ethernet
• On-board video recording on microSD card
• Multi-target tracking up to full 1080p HD
• Multi-target detection
• Image blending
• Picture-in-picture capability
• Image enhancement
• Digital image stabilization
• Digital roll stabilization
• KLV metadata overlaid on video stream
• Customisable video overlay
• Integration of custom specific sensor data

Power Requirements 22-30 Vdc, 35 W (typical)

Midi SCU is ideal for carriers with high requirements on sealing, robustness, and rugged design. It is ideally located inside the fuselage and can be freely located to optimise for instance the centre of gravity of a smaller aircraft.

Mini SCU is a lightweight unit ideal for a small, unmanned aircraft with moderate requirements on robustness and sealing. The Mini SCU includes the same advanced feature and video performance Even though the Mini SCU is smaller than the other SCU models.

Maxi SCU is ideal for rotary-wing aircrafts and is typically docked onto a certified gimbal mount to form a single line replacement unit to simplify the handling in the field.
